Minor girl from Secunderabad gang raped in Vijayawada
In a shocking incident that strongly contested the city's reputation of being safe for women, a minor girl was allegedly gang raped by five men for over a month in Vijayawada.
The 12-year-old from Secunderabad, left home after a tiff with her parents, a month ago. According to police, after leaving her home, she took a train to Vijayawada. After reaching there, unable to go anywhere, she went to the Kanakadurga temple, and made a call to her relatives, telling them about her whereabouts and asked them to pick her up.
One of the accused, Madhav, overhead the conversation and approached her and lied to her that he was sent by her relatives.
The girl, believing Madhav, got on his bike. He then took her to a room and raped her. Later, he was joined by his friends and they allegedly gang raped her for a month. After a month, she managed to escape the clutches of her rapists, and came back to the same spot from where she was picked.
The on duty Police noticed her, as she was crying, and took her to the nearest police station, where she narrated her tale. Subsequently, police registered her case under Nirbhaya Act and took into custody the three accused. The city police launched a massive search operation to arrest the other accused
The police are trying to get in touch the victim's parents. Meanwhile, the girl has been sent to a government hospital in the city for medical examinations.
