Mild Tremors Rock Srikakulam, Parts of Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Mild tremors rocked several areas in Srikakulam and couple of places in Hyderabad, on Sunday.

At Etcherla and Ponduru mandals in Srikakulam, residents rushed out of their houses when tremors were felt after 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. Reports of tremors were also received from Kushalapuram, Fareedpeta and Domaram villages in Etcherla. Villagers of Kesavapuram, Nandivada, Kintali in Ponduru also reported instances of mild tremors.

Meanwhile, tremors were reported in Borabanda and Yousufguda areas of Hyderabad. The National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI) recorded the tremors at 1.4 on the Richter scale. NGRI officials said that the tremors were localised and there was no reason to panic. Following reports of tremors, MLA M Gopinath, deputy mayor Baba Fasiuddin and others visited the area. However, an official annoucement from the state government on the tremors is awaited.
