Metro Rail Will Run On Time: KTR
Hyderabad: Telangana IT minister K.T. Rama Rao on Sunday said the Hyderabad Metro Rail will begin its operations within 2-3 months as scheduled.Replying to a question raised by MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi in the state Assembly, KTR said over 75% works have been completed and the delay was not due to the re-alignment of the route.
The total cost of the metro rail project was Rs14,132 crore as estimated in 2010, but there was no progress in the project till 2012. "The TRS government is taking all measures to complete the project within schedule," he said and added that we are much faster in completing such a big project when compared to Delhi, Bengaluru and Chennai where it took seven-and-a-half years to construct 25-km route, seven years for 6 km and six years for 8 km respectively.
Metro rail fares will be between Rs13 and Rs25, the minister said and added that the company will be hardly in profits for several years in the future.
However, Akbaruddin said L&T will earn over Rs1.18 lakh crores in 35 years even if it charges moderately.
KTR said metro rail will be extended by another 83km in various directions - from Miyapur to Patancheru, Tarnaka to ECIL, Nagole to LB Nagar, LB Nagar to Hayat Nagar and Rayadurgam to Samshabad, besides extension of the Uppal route up to Yadadri.
