Mentally ill girl raped by father

Rajahmundry: In a disgraceful incident, A 17-year-old mentally- challenged girl got pregnant after she was allegedly raped repeatedly by her father in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.

The incident which took place in Ambajipeta Mandal of Amalapuram division, came to light on Wednesday after the 17-year-old victim, studying in ninth grade, complained of excessive vomiting and was taken to a doctor where she was diagnosed to be pregnant, the police officer said.

According to Amalapuram S I Vijayakumar, the girl was staying in her maternal aunt's house for a long time as her father is a carpenter and her mother was in Gulf. She came back home to her father, C Venkateswar Rao, only two months back. When the girl began vomiting on Wednesday neighbours took her to the Government Hospital for examination where, after her medical reports, she alleged that she was raped several times by her father, police said.

Later, when the information was passed on to her mother in Gulf, she advised them to lodge a complaint. Police have registered a case and further investigation is on. No arrests have been made so far.
