Meira Kumar Says Dalit Concept Is Outdated
Hyderabad: Opposition-backed Presidential candidate Meira Kumar has said people describing her fight as Dalit Vs Dalit is archaic and invalid in modern times. Meira Kumar on Monday visited the city to campaign for her candidature in the Presidential election.
Addressing a gathering of Congress and other opposition party leaders at Gandhi Bhavan, Meira said she is confident of winning the election as the entire opposition is united. "I am impressed by the unity of all the opposition parties on my candidature. I will leave no stone unturned to fulfill the responsibility and trust bestowed on me," she said. It's no longer a Dalit versus Dalit, but our fight is for the economic freedom and social emancipation, she said.
Recalling the passing of Telangana formation bill in the Lok Sabha when she was the Speaker, Meira Kumar said she could understand the ambitions and aspirations of the people of Telangana and did her best for the formation of the state.
She called upon the legislators to vote according to their conscience to achieve economic freedom for the people and for social emancipation.
