Medico Alleges Dowry Harassment By Doctor, In-Laws

Guntur: A medico doing her PG at Amalapuram on Friday attempted to commit suicide over dowry harassment by husband who is also a doctor at Guntur Government Hospital.

Doctor Saikrishna and Devilakshmi of Vetapalem in Chundur mandal were in love for some time and they got married on November 14, 2015 with the consent of both their families. However, the harassment by Saikrishna started just 10 days after the marriage and his parents also supported him, Devilakshmi complained.

Devilakshmi approached media saying that the police are not taking any action on her husband despite lodging a complaint only because of political support to him.

She said Saikrishna and his parents are forcing her to give divorce and they are offering Rs20 lakh as compensation. "I don't want to give divorce," she said.

Her mother Vani alleged that Government Whip Dulipalla Narendra was trying to marry his daughter with Saikrishna and that's the reason police are not taking action.
