Married journalist, live-in partner commit suicide

Hyderabad: A married video-journalist and his live-in partner committed suicide by hanging themselves at their residence in Vanashtalipuram on Tuesday.

The deceased identified as Raju, 35, and Kavita, 30, of Srinivasapuram moved into a rented house in Vanasthalipuram only two months ago and had introduced each other as husband and wife to the landlord. However, Raju a journalist with express-TV was already married and had two children who stayed with his wife In Choutuppal.

According to reports, these two did not come out of the house since Monday morning, which made the landlord suspicious and so he alerted the police.

“We entered the house by breaking the door latch and found the two victims hanging from the ceiling fans in different rooms," assistant commissioner of police (ACP), Vanasthalipuram, B Bhaskar said.

The police didn’t recover any suicide note from the scene, though they assume personal problems could have led them to take this step as Raju had kept his relationship with Kavita a secret from his family.

A case was registered under section 174 (suspicious death) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) and the bodies were shifted to Osmania Hospital for post-mortem.
