Marriage Stopped, Groom Arrested After His Lover Messages Bride

Warangal: A groom-to-be has been arrested and his wedding was cancelled after the bride received an SMS from his lover about their affair.

29-year-old Bharath Srinivas got engaged to Aruna, daughter of Kancharla Jayalakshmi and Venkateshwar Rao and their marriage was to be solomnized on Sunday in Hanamkonda. Minutes before the muhurtam at 10.30, Aruna got a message on her mobile saying she and Bharath Srinivas were in relationship for five years and she just came to know about the marriage and alerted the bride to cancel it.

The bride informed her parents who in turn alerted the police who swung into action and arrested the bridegroom and a dozen of his relatives. When police inquired about the messages, the man told them that it was an old affair and the girl refused to marry him earlier.

However, the girl who also called the bride's parents is reportedly told them that Bharath is unemployed. Jayalakshmi told the media that Srinivas claimed to be working in Vijayawada.

On a complaint by the bride and her parents, Subedari police filed a case of cheating and further investigation is on.
