Maoists Kidnap 6 Revenue Officials At AOB

Visakhapatnam: After a brief lull in the Maoist activities in the Andhra Odisha Border (AOB) post the crippling Chitrakonda encounter, the Maoists struck again on Friday.

This time, they kidnapped six persons belonging to the revenue department of the Odisha Government. The Maoists accosted the revenue officials who were touring the interior areas in Jodang forest area.

The kidnapped officials have been identified as Purushotham Behra (block programme manager), Lingaraj Majhi, Hrushikesh Nayak (MI), Praveen Saran (junior engineer), Kaminikanta Singh (junior engineer) and Manoranjan Sisa (village head).

The officials' families are in deep sorrow. The officials went to Jadong forest to make arrangements for the upcoming local elections, which the Maoists had boycotted.
