Maoist Party Central Committee Ex-Member Gopanna Found Dead On Railway Track
Warangal: Maoist party central committee former activist Komalla Seshagiri Rao alias Gopanna was found dead on a railway track at Unikicharla near the city on Friday.
Though primarily it looks like a suicide, police are investigating into the circumstances that led to the extreme step taken by the ex-naxalite leader.
During his active association with Maoist party between 1990-2005, Gopanna was working in Rajamundry and Vizag areas. As he developed contacts with real estate businessmen in the area, the naxal leader is also reported to have amassed huge wealth and joined them in some ventures.
The naxal leader surrendered before the police but later suffered huge losses. In this connection, some businessmen from Rajamundry kidnapped him and tortured him to pay back their money for 15 days some time back. He executed some papers to pay back their money but was unable to keep the promise.
On Friday, some unidentified persons came to Gopanna's house in the town and threatened to kidnap him again. Police suspect that this pressure could have led him to commit suicide. The kidnappers gang is believed to have stationed in Warangal and the police are trying to trace them.
