Hyderabad: As heavy rains continued for over a week, an unidentified man was washed away in an open nala at Jeedimetla on Saturday night.

The man, who was in inebriated state, accidentally slipped into the nala at Dwaraka Nagar and was pulled by the gushing water, even after the several rescue attempts. "The man sat on the nala's retaining wall when he accidentally fell into it. He also tried to rescue himself by holding an elevated manhole cover. Though the neighbors tried to save him with a cable wire, the man lost grip and was swept away," a witness said. The body of the man was yet to be traced.

This was the second incident in a week, after an auto-driver fell into a nala and washed away at Old City.
