Man Rapes Tribal Girl, Villagers Pass Judgement Of Rs 40,000 Compensation To The Victim
Kallur Rural (Khammam): In a shocking incident, a man raped a physically challenged tribal girl and impregnated her in Khammam district. Later, the accused refused to marry her. And the villagers fixed a compensation for the victim's family.
The incident occurred in a tribal hamlet of Errabanjara village in Kallur mandal here in the district. Two months after aborting the baby, the victim died of health complications.
According to the police, the accused identified as Chenna Kesavulu of the same village got closer to Wankudoth Rani. When parents of the victim were not at home, Kesavulu sexually assaulted her several times. Subsequently, when she became pregnant her parents questioned her only to know that she was raped by Kesavulu. As the news reached the village heads, they intervened to resolve the matter amicably.
The village heads of the tribal community decided to perform the marriage of the accused with the victim. However, Kesavulu's parents rejected the judgement. The tribal heads then fixed a compensation of Rs 40,000 to be paid to the victim. Agreeing to the decision, Kesavulu and his mother Mudu Lacchi took the girl to a clinic in Khammam district and got the foetus aborted. Two months after the abortion, the victim died in the hospital due to health complications.
Following a complaint lodged by the victim's parents on Saturday, a case has been registered against 12 persons including Kesavulu. Kallur ACP Balla Rajesh said that an action would be taken against the doctors who performed the abortion.
