Man Rapes 5-Year-Old Daughter; Grandmother Kills Her To Conceal Crime

Nashik: A five-year-old girl was raped by her father and was then killed by her grandmother, in a bid to cover up the crime committed by her son. The duo was arrested by the Nashik rural police on Saturday from Javulake Vani village in Nashik.

The incident took place on Friday night when the accused, Sachin Shinde, returned home in an inebriated condition and raped his five-year-old daughter. Shinde's mother, Anasuya, witnessed the act and anticipating that her son would be arrested, she killed the child by strangling her. She later disposed the body behind a school building near their house. When the incident happened, the child's mother was not present at home.

DSP (Kalwan division) Devidas Patil said that woman tried to mislead the people by lodging a complaint that her grand daughter was kidnapped and killed. During investigation , the sniffer dogs came straight to Shinde's house from the burial spot. When the police grilled the accused and his mother, they confessed to the crime.

A case was lodged against Shinde under Section 376 (rape) of the IPC and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act-2012, while his mother was booked on charges of murder and concealment of evidence.
