Hyderabad: A civil services aspirant was arrested from here on charge of sending vulgar messages to a woman and making calls to her after she refused to marry him, police said on Thursday.

Venkata Naga Balaji Goparaju (33), a resident of L B Nagar here, was apprehended by the Central Crime Station - a wing of Hyderabad Police. But due to his misbehaviour and abusive SMS and phone calls she did not want to continue her friendship with him. The accused wanted to marry her but she refused it. He felt humiliated and wanted to take revenge on the lady, and hence, he sent SMSs to her, a release from city police said. Following the harassment due to phone calls and abusive SMSes, the woman filed a complaint with Cyber Crimes police. But after repeated requests from the accused and his family and a written promise that he will not trouble her anymore, and further she learnt that the accused is mentally unsound and behaves childishly, the woman dropped the case against him, police said. However, from July 2014, Goparaju again started calling her, and when she blocked his number, he started sending her texts with abusive and threatening messages especially from December 2014, the police said.
