Man Held For Raping TV Actress

Hyderabad: A TV actress was sexually assaulted by a man who also blackmailed her for posting her pictures on social media. The actress lodged a complaint with Rachakonda police on Wednesday.

The victim Roopa, a resident of LB Nagar was repeatedly raped by the accused Girish(27) for six months. According to police, Girish, a native of Anantapur is running a medical shop in the town. He met the actress through a mutual friend in December 2016. The duo became friends and the actress borrowed Rs1 lakh from him. He later invited her to his house in LB Nagar on the pretext of signing a surety paper.

He offered her cool drink laced with sleeping pills, and when she fell unconscious, he raped her and clicked their intimate pictures. He then blackmailed her of posting the pictures on social media and raped her repeatedly.

Distressed with the continuous torture, the actress lodged a complaint with the police against the accused. Police arrested him in Anantapur and sent him to remand.
