Man held for extortion in the name of MLA

A person, who tried to extort money misusing the name of Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh, landed behind the bars.

Mundrayi Krishna (42), the alleged extortionist, telephoned jeweller  Ramachandraiah and introduced himself as Gosha Mahal MLA. He demanded the owner to send him Rs.1 lakh to organise a public meeting.

Krishna belongs to Sultan Shahi area in the city and Ramachandraiah is running a jewellery shop at Siddhi Amber Bazar in the city.

Mundrayi Krishna called up Ramachandraiah at 8.45 pm on June 19 to demand the money. After a few minutes, Ramachandraiah got another phone call. This time, the caller introduced himself as the PA to MLA and putforth the same demand.

Ramachandraiah, who grew suspicious, informed the police. The police traced the call and took Krishna into custody.

Afzalgunj police said that there are several cases booked against Krishna under the limits of Mogulpura, Mushirabad and Nampally police stations.
