Man cheats 14 wives, arrested during 15th marriage

The Ongole police on Saturday arrested a man who had married several women and scooted with their valuables and cash.

Shockingly, Venkat Rao (30) who had married 14 women in a span of ten years was caught when he was ready to take the plunge for the 15th time.

The conman, a resident of Prakasam district was known by the name Gudipalli  Venkat Rao. But he changed his name several times to cheat women.

He tied the knot with several women by lying that he was a rich business man.

His last marriage was to Lakshmi from Khammam. His 13th marriage was with a woman from Gadwal.

The Ongole police who had launched a manhunt caught Venkat red-handed when he was about to marry Pavitra in Ongole.

Police seized a car, net cash Rs 11 lakh and gold from Venkat Rao. His modus operandi - identify rich woman to marry and then scoot with the loot.

He betrayed several women in various districts. Some women fell prey to him over the phone too. "Venkat Rao would marry and after few days he will start blackmailing them and would eventually flee with their wealth," police said.

There were 8 cases already booked against him. And recently there have been 6 fresh cases against Rao.  Police are trying to find if there were any more victims.
