A man in Pakistan's Punjab state has decapitated his 37-year-old wife for refusing to quit her job.

Nasreen, a mother of three and a resident of Shamke Bhattian, was found dead on Sunday by her children and neighbours in her house in Manga Mandi, 41 kilometres from Lahore.

The woman was killed by her husband Afraheem in the name of honour. The woman worked as a labourer in a factory in Raiwind area, but her husband did not like her job and would always ask her to resign. Despite opposition by her husband, Nasreen continued with her job. On Sunday, he decapitated her, locked the body inside the home and ran away.

Their children, who were away, returned in the evening and found her mother dead. A complaint has been lodged and a hunt is on to arrest the husband.
