Make Speaker accept my resignation, Lagadapati seeks court - Sakshi Post

Congress MP and Seemandhra leader Lagadapati Rajagopal Monday moved the Delhi High Court seeking direction for Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar to accept his resignation as member of the house, submitted two months ago.

Protesting against the party's decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh and form a separate Telangana state, Rajagopal submitted his resignation Aug 2.
The matter likely to come up for hearing on Wednesday before Justice V.K. Jain.
In his plea Rajagopal, who represents Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency, said: "Even after expiry of 65 days and repeated requests, the speaker has not acted on the resignation. Rajagopal is compelled to continue as member of Lok Sabha against his will."
Rajagopal said in the petition that he tendered the resignation from the lower house voluntarily and out of free will and this was informed to the speaker.
Citing Lok Sabha Rules and provisions in the Constitution, he argued that the speaker has no authority to not accept or act on the petition.
