Major Jolt To Sasikala Camp: Governor Says Imprudent To Invite Sasikala For Government Formation

Sasikala Natarajan - Sakshi Post

Chennai: Sasikala Natarajan and her followers received a major jolt late on Friday night as incharge Governor CH Vidyasagar Rao is understood to have told the Union Home Ministry that it would not be prudent to invite Sasikala to form the next government.

The reasoning is said to have been based on the ongoing Disproportionate Assets (DA) case in the court in which Sasikala is listed as the second accused (A2). The Governor is also said to have stated that since Sasikala is not a legislator she cannot be invited to form the next government. Though constitutionally a provision exists to allow a minister six months duration to get elected, the Governor reserves the right to take the final call on the issue. Also, he seems to have assured the Center that there is no power vacuum in the state government as O Panneerselvam was told to continue as chief minister till alternative arrangements are made.

Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of Raj Bhavan (Chennai) stated that no report has been sent from Governor CH Vidyasagar Rao to the Home Ministry. On queried the Union Home Ministry also denied that it received a report from the Chennai Raj Bhavan till late on Friday night.
