Major fire mishap in Rajahmundry

In a major fire mishap caused by the explosion of an electrical transformer reduced three police vehicles to ashes and left several persons with burn injuries in Rajahmundry on Wednesday evening.

The mishap occurred near Gokavaram Bus Stand area of the city, which is close to Anam Kala Kendram, a cultural centre. There were several ministers and officials in the Kala Kendram at the time of the blast. However, all of them are safe.

Two shops close to the transformer also were consumed by flames. Several autorickshaws and few two wheelers were also damaged in the fire. The fire tenders, which rushed in quickly, put out the fire.
