Mahbubnagar Sub-Inspector Suspended; Spurious Seeds Racket Busted

Hyderabad: Sub-inspector Ashok, attached to Bhuthpur police station in Mahbubnagar district, was on Wednesday suspended for negligence in discharging duties. He was suspending for not acting against a gang that was selling spurious seeds to gullible farmers. This was stated by Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat.

According to Mahbubnagar SP Rema Rajeshwari, the police formed four teams and conducted raids at three different places in the district. They arrested four persons and seized huge stocks of spurious seeds from the locations. The accused were identified as Chinnam Janakiram, Sanghi Mahender, Srinu and Lakshmi. It was found that SI Ashok did not act against these people despite several complaints.

The quartet have so far duped hundreds of farmers in Telangana, Maharashtra and Karnataka.The fake seeds are finely packed with various names such as Srusti Seeds and Gopi Krishna seeds. A total of 1,651 kgs of fake seeds were seized by the police in Thorrrur town in Warangal. It is estimated that the fake seeds are worth Rs 46 lakh in the market. A case has been registered against the accused.
