Sirikonda Madhusudana Chary, TRS MLA from Bhupalapally Assembly became the first Speaker of the Telangana State Assembly. 

He was elected unopposed as the speaker on Tuesday. All the parties filed nominations when the Protem Speaker K. Jana Reddy issued election notification for the speaker post, and Madhusudana Chary was elected unanimous. 

Sources say that TRS leadership is considering Medak MLA Padma Devender Reddy for deputy speaker’s post.

Speaking in the Assembly, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao congratulated Madhusudana Chary, on being the first speaker of Telangana Assembly. He also said that Madhusudana Chary's role in the Telangana movement will be remembered forever.  

Before the inception of TRS, Madhusudana Chary played an important role in the Telangana movement. 

KCR added that he will extend his full support in the House proceedings.  Madhusudan Chary, a native of Bhupalpalli in Wanagar district, has been an active member of TRS since its inception. He is also considered to be extremely close to KCR.
