Maa TV becomes part of the Star group

Maa TV, the prime entertainment channel in Telugu, will now become part of the Star TV Network. An agreement was reached on Wednesday between the Maa TV and the Star Group. Maa group has offloaded some of its shares to the Star Group. This has facilitated the entry of Star group into Telugu entertainment sector.

"Till now we did not have Telugu operations. With this agreement, we will now have Telugu operations too," said Star group's Udayasankar. He termed the business arrangement as Super Alliance. He said Maa Brand will now become Star. He however said that the Maa promoters will continue on the board, while the Star will only takeover the broadcast business..
Giving details of the agreement, industrialist and Maa group's Nimmagadda Prasad said the agreement will come into force once the regulator permissions are obtained.
Maa TV's promoters Allu Aravind, actor Nagarjuna, Chiranjeevi were also present on the occasion.
