Lunar Eclipse Effect on Medaram Jathara  

Medaram: On the first day of Medaram Jatara, the ritual starts from 4 pm with drum beats and will conclude at 9 pm after the head priest reaches the Jampanna Vaagu. Though a full Lunar Eclipse is in store today, the priest has said that there would be no change in their schedule and everything will go as per routine.

The ritual begins in the interior forest area where the altars (gaddelu)
of the deity Saralamma resides. The deity is brought down to Medaram, after
elaborate rituals are performed. The goddess is brought by head priest in form of kumkum and pasupu in a colourful procession. The Goddess is installed at Medaram for the next four days from today evening.
