Lok Satta launching `Surajya Movement' in AP today

Lok Satta Party is launching a movement in Andhra Pradesh from today which aims at promoting awareness among public on ethical politics and good governance. The Foundation for Democratic Reforms, an NGO, has joined hands with Lok Satta for `Surajya Movement', which will begin with a round-table conference in the morning and a public meeting here in the evening.

The conference will discuss enactment of a law on citizens' right to Government services, creation of strong anti-corruption mechanisms from the State to village level, empowerment of local Government bodies and ushering in basic political and electoral reforms. The round-table will hammer out a consensus on these issues and unveil an action plan as part of the movement, Lok Satta said in a release today.

Lok Satta General Secretary Katari Srinivasa Rao said the stir aims at promoting awareness among public on ethical politics and good governance. The campaign, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of Quit India movement, will be carried out in different forms until December 9, International Anti-Corruption Day, he said.
