Locals Worried Over Ganesh Immersion In Mini Tank bund

Safilguda residents are worried about the pollutants during immersion in the ‘Mini Tank Bund’ - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: With Ganesh Chaturthi round the corner residents of Safilguda are worried about the pollutants during immersion in the ‘Mini Tank Bund’.

The residents say that as no government authority is concerned to take care of the lake, debris and pollution will destroy the ambience during the immersion.

Another resident rued that, apart from the immersion process authorities also fail to control traffic congestion

“There are several buildings that are coming up in the area, and if water starts gushing out of the manholes as it did during last year’s festival, it would make them weak and vulnerable to collapse,” said Suresh Kumar of the Anandbagh residents’ welfare association.

Asked about residents grievance, GHMC official said that to make the immersion a hassle free they will create another bund inside the lake.

Another resident rued that, apart from the immersion process authorities also fail to control traffic congestion.

On the other hand level chromium and heavy metals in the lake was beyond permissible limits, says a study conducted by St Pious Degree and PG College students.
