YSRCP dharnas begin across the state
* Dharnas aimed at mounting protest against TDP govt on poll promises
* Protests organised at all mandal head quarters
* Srikanth Reddy, Karunakar Reddy lead protests at Lakkireddypalle, Tirupati respectively
The state-wide dharnas by the YSR Congress Party against the indifference of TDP government towards farmers, women groups and its failure to provide adequate relief to Hudhud Cyclone-hit people, began across all mandal headquarters on Wednesday.
Thousands of party activists have begun protest dharnas in front of the MRO offices. Raising slogans against the Government, the YSRCP activists barged into the collectorates at some places. The party workers held protests in all the major towns including Tirupati, YSR Kadapa and other areas.
Rayachoty MLA Srikanth Reddy staged a dharna at the Lakkareddipalle demanding immediate implementation of poll promise such as loan waiver for farmers and the women self-help groups. YSRCP senior leader Bhumana Karunakar Reddy led the sit-in in front of the Tirupati RDO office.
On Tuesday, YS Jagan announced that the dharna programme will be held in the first week of the coming three months to mount pressure on the State Government, which is trying to hoodwink the people by talking tall and doing nothing on election promises.
“The dharnas are intended to highlight the failures of TDP Government in meeting its commitment to waive loans of farmers and women groups besides implementing the pension scheme as promised during electioneering and the inefficiency of the State in addressing the Cyclone affected people,” YS Jagan said.
