Lawyer tries to commit suicide at SV University

Tirupati : On Monday, a lawyer, identified as Maasumayya tried to commit suicide by setting himself ablaze in Sri Venkateshwar University in Tirupati. He resorted to the extreme act demanding special status to the state of Andhra Pradesh. 
He came to the SV University, climbed up the steps and doused himself in kerosine, which he brought with him. Seeing him trying to set himself ablaze, the students prevented him. 
After the incident, the students and the ISIF community of the college boycotted classes and shouted slogans in front of the administrative block to express their support for the special category status.
