Laundry water used to prepare food, 12 students hospitalized

Vijayawada: In a bizarre incident, food which was prepared using laundry water led to 12 girl students falling sick at a hostel in Gunadala on Monday. The hostel comes under the purview of the ministry of social welfare.

According to students, the regular cook was on leave and her relative had replaced her to prepare the food that day. The woman used water mixed with surf that was kept to wash clothes, for cooking dal and rice they, the students claimed. After eating the food that was thus prepared, 12 girls suffered stomach ache and burning sensations in stomach and tongue and threw up shortly after.

A local students organisation rushed the victims to the near by hospital.
