Land-grabbing Only Agenda Of Chandrababu Government
Hyderabad: The only agenda of the Telugu Desam Government (TDP) led by Chandrababu Naidu is to grab the land of poor farmers, YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said.
Addressing a massive public meeting in Gajulapalli of Mahanandi mandal here on Tuesday, YS Jagan said over 40 farmers committed suicide owing to mounting debts and loss of their precious land. However, the chief minister sanctioned ex-gratia only to four farmers. The party president was speaking as part of the Rythu Barosa Yatra undertaken by him to highlight the plight of farmers under the TDP-rule. As part of the Yatra, YS Jagan toured the religious-centric places of Srisailam and Mahanandi interacted with people at the grassroot levels and received their grievances.
Recalling the public welfare measures of the late chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, he said 48 lakh houses were constructed for the poor at the time. "Compared that to the current chief minister where not a single house was constructed for the poor," he said. Stating that the plight of farmers in Rayalaseema was worsening, he questioned the state government as to why water for irrigation was not released despite all the projects having sufficient water levels.
"Further, the farmers who manage to grow the crops are not getting minimum prices for their produce," YS Jagan said. The per quintal prices of mirchi and turmeric are falling each day driving the farmers to suicide, he said and illustrated the increasing scenes of farmers dumping onions and tomatoes on the roads
The rally in Mahanandi marks the conclusion of the first phase of the YSRCP's Rythu Barosa Yatra.
