Kurnool shuts down over capital issue

A day before the TDP's government is set to make an announcement on the AP new capital, the demand to make Kurnool capital intensified a complete shutdown.

Blaming TDP for its plan to favour pro-TDP land lobby, several student organisations called for a bandh in Kurnool. Several business establishments voluntarily participated in the bandh and most of the schools remained closed.

The student organisations reminded that Kurnool was the capital of Andhra state and recalled Sri Bagh agreement between Andhra and Rayalaseema leaders in the pre-Independence days. They took out a rally demanding to announce Kurnool as capital of AP.
Meanwhile, the lawyers from Anantapur district demanded the government to set up High Court in their region.
