Kukatpally Narayana College Teacher Drives Student To Suicide

Hyderabad: Harassment from lecturers is not unheard of. But the incidents continues unabated as another girl student has attempted to end her life. The victim, identified as Navyasri Goud and a student of Narayana Junior college in Hyderabad on Tuesday attempted to take the extreme step by slitting her wrist with a knife at the Narayana hostel in Kukatpally.

Six months ago, a mathematics lecturer named Keerthi punished Navyasri over an issue in the classroom. When the girl questioned her for punishing her for no reason, the lecturer threatened her saying that she had the backing of the college management. .

The victim said that the lecturer had developed a grudge against her thereafter. On Sunday night, Keerthi allegedly abused the student and asked her die instead of staying in the college. That's when the student took the extreme step.

Navyasri, who is recuperating in a hospital, was stated to be out of danger. A case has been booked by the Kukatpally police station against the lecturer.
