KTR trashes cracks in HMR pillar as a rumor

Hyderabad: With the circulation of news and photographs in the social media about cracks on pillars of Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR), Telangana Minister for IT, Municipal Administration & Urban Development, KT Rama Rao gave a clarification and trashed it as rumors about the cracks in piers of HMR.

A picture with a crack in a pier of a flyover saying “a crack in the pillar of HMR near Gachibowli” created a furore in the city as it was posted on social media in last week. The Minsiter said that the news is totally false and those with vested interests are circulating this type of news with fake photographs only to malign the project.


KTR took to Twitter on Wednesday saying the picture of the pillar was not taken in Hyderabad and does not belong to HMR or PVNR Expressway and was from Rawalpindi of Pakistan . He also posted the link of a Pakistani news website carrying the news with title of “Rawalpindi- Islamabad Metro design fault” including the picture. He tweeted, “This is not in Hyderabad neither in Metro nor in PVNR. Actually it’s in Rawalpindi, Pakistan.”

He also appealed to the city people not to believe such false rumors about the HMR project especially spread on social media. Earlier, the Managing Director of HMR project NVS Reddy also clarified that the news was a false one.
