KTR Meets Major Pharma Cos, Officials In US
Hyderabad: Telangana IT and Industry Minister KT Rama Rao, who's on a US tour to attract business investments to the state, has been holding discussions with several dignitaries in the US. KTR on Wednesday met Tarunjith Singh, Indian Ambassador to the US, American Council General Catherine, Bertrand Marc, President, Boeing International, and industry captains from several sectors.
KTR requested the Ambassador for his cooperation in strengthening trade between Telangana and the several states in the US. KTR has brought the problems of Indian students to the notice of American Council General.
Bertrand Marc has assured of his support to strengthening the company's unit in Hyderabad. In association with Tatas, Boeing has unit in Hyderabad Aerospace. Boeing along with Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) in June 2016 established a defence and aerospace manufacturing facility at Adibatla near Hyderabad. The facility will be one of India's first big foreign investments in manufacturing under the Make in India initiative. Boeing is keen on further expanding the Hyderabad Unit.
KTR has sought Boeing's cooperation in providing tradinging to the youth of Telangana in aerospace technology.
KTR briefed US businessmen on efforts being taken by Telangana government in checking pollution in the manufacturing sector.
Speaking with officials from United Environmental Protection Agency, KTR briefed them about the measures being taken by the Telangana government. He told them that "the Government is firm on relocating pharma and other manufacturing units, which are causing pollution and harming ecobalance, to beyong outer ring road. Pharma City with all the infrastructure including treatment facilities is coming up and will have pharma companies under one umbrella."
United Environmental Protection Agency has agreed to take part in framing guidelines alongwith Telangana government.
US businessmen and government officials have assured of their support in transforming the manufacturing sector into a pollution-free industry.
KTR has made a presentation to Jonathan, CEO at Cliveland Motor Cycle Work Company, about the business opportunities in Telangana. KTR asked Jonathan to set up a unit in the State. KTR alongwith Telangana government officials and non-resident Telanganaites met CEOs and Presidents from Pfizer, Eli Lilliy, Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Merck & Co and Amgen.

Dr PB Ram Reddy, Chairman of CommuniClique, expressed his interest in setting up a unit in Hyderabad.
KTR also met Global Enterpreneurship Summit Director Tom and briefed him about the advantages of holding international trade fairs in Hyderabad. The State government will extend whole-hearded support to the global events in Hyderabad if the Centre takes a decision in this regard, said KTR.
