Krishna Pushkarams Sanitation Workers Protest For Wages
Amaravati: The sanitary workers deployed during the 12-day Krishna Pushkarams took to streets on Wednesday as the state government didn’t pay their wages.
The workers rued that despite they strove hard round-the-clock government did not pay them on time.
Nearly, 19,600 sanitation workers were deployed from August 9 till the end of the event. The workers worked for eight hours a day in three shifts and some even did a double shift in a hope to earn extra, but none received promised daily wage of Rs 400
“All we are asking for is our salary which we rightly deserve for all the hard work. We don’t even want the credit for keeping the ghats clean. Let the government take all the credit. We just want our salaries,” a worker cried.

The cash strapped state government had reportedly spent Rs.1800 crore for Pushkarams.
