Krishna phase III completed, water from Monday - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board has completed the pipeline work for the Krishna Phase III project and has released the water for testing. The water will be officially released to the public from Monday.

The Krishna Phase III project was to increase the city's water supply by 90 (MGD) million gallons per day however due to the scarcity of water last summer, 45 MGD were already made available to the public. The remaining 45 MGD will be released from Monday. This would take the total supply of water to the city to 270 MLD

The HMWS&SB officials say that they have completed the laying of pipeline at Prashant Nagar near Jubilee Hills ahead of the schedule. Residents of Prashasan Nagar, Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Qutbullahpur and surrounding areas are to benefit from this phase of the project.

AP government alleges favouritism
Upset over the alleged favouritism of the Krishna River Management Board (KRWM) to Telangana, the AP government is preparing to lodge a complaint against it with the Union Water Resources Ministry.

They argue that KRMB had not heeded to their request to release water from Nagarjuna Sagar and also that the Telangana government had caused an undue delay in releasing water to them.

The AP officials further argue that KRWB did not consider their argument and requirement for more water to sustain more crops under cultivation in Andhra Pradesh.
