Krishna dist: Boy saves sister from rapists, dies - Sakshi Post

There's no end to atrocities against women. In the recent past, the number of sexual assault cases have only gone up. As if the Nirbhaya case and the rape on five-year-old was not enough, another such rape attempt case has been reported from our very own state. This time the girl luckily escaped the rape bid. Unfortunately, the brother who was badly injured while trying to save his sister from the attackers has died.

Three unidentified persons attempted to rape a girl who was returning home with her brother in Krishna district.

The incident that happened on April 19 came to light only today. According to reports, the miscreants thrashed the brother when he tried to save his sister from them. They also rammed a motorcycle into him, it's learnt. The brother, Ravi Teja who was badly injured died yesterday at the hospital.

This happened at Punadipadu under Kankipadu mandal of Krishna District. Swapna who escaped the rape bid said, "My brother and I were on our way back home in the night. Three persons in inebriated state dragged my dupatta. When my brother tried to stop the miscreants from molesting me, two of them hit him hard while the third one rammed the bike into my brother from the back."

She also confessed to have kept mum till now as they had been threatened by the attackers. The police has booked a case of accident!

Enraged by the death of Ravi Teja, Dalit organisations staged a dharna at the Kankipadu police station demanding stern action against the culprits. They also demanded that a rape case be registered against the culprits and also a harsh punishment for them.

The attackers are absconding and the police has launched a search operation to nab them.
