Kolkata Techie Held For Duping Hyderabad Youth Of Rs 1.5 Lakh

Hyderabad: A city-based B Tech graduate was duped of Rs 1.5 lakh by a software engineer in Kolkata on the false promise of providing him a job in Zensar Technologies Ltd at Gachibowli.

The accused Sudarshan Swain was arrested and police said that he used the money to get his hair transplanted at a clinic in Park Street of Kolkata.

The victim, a BTech graduate from Nagole had lodged a complaint with police in December last year stating that while looking for jobs online, he had sent his resume to one Tapan. The latter asked him to deposit Rs 50,000 for receiving a call letter for interview for the job in Zensar Technologies Ltd.

"Since the company is reputed, the victim deposited the money in an account number of a private bank that was provided by Tapan. After this, someone posing as an HR Manager of the IT firm took telephonic interview of the victim and he was again made to deposit Rs one lakh on the pretext of getting an offer letter," said Mahesh M Bhagwat, Rachakonda Police Commissioner.

Since the company is reputed, the victim deposited the money in an account number of a private bank that was provided by Tapan. After this, someone posing as an HR Manager of the IT firm took telephonic interview of the victim and he was again made to deposit Rs one lakh on the pretext of getting an offer letter

After getting the offer letter, the victim went to Zensar Technologies' office, but realised that the offer letter was fake, following which he lodged a complaint and a case was registered.

Reportedly, the fraudsters sent spoofed e-mails in the name of e-mail IDs of Zensar Technologies Ltd with a forged copy of offer letter. Police are trying to find Swain's accomplice Tapan who is at large.
