Woman Kidnapper Kills And Buries Baby Fearing Police Arrest
Hyderabad: The infant who was kidnapped on Sunday from his grandmother near Niloufer Hospital in the city was killed by the kidnapper who also buried the body at Bandondipally village in Nagarkurnool district. The woman who kidnapped the 3-day-old baby boy has been identified as Manjula of Katedan. She and her husband Komariah killed the infant after taking him to Bandondipally village in Nagarkurnool as they had feared that police might arrest them any moment as an intensive search operation was going on and the incident was widely covered on TV.
The kidnapper, Manjula(34), was desperate to have a child as she lost her pregnancies several times before. Her 6-month pregnancy had also aborted some time back but she kept it from her family. After ninth month, she came out on the roads looking to kidnap a just-born baby to project it as her own.
Manjula found Nirmala's mother as an easy prey at Niloufer hospital. Nirmala delivered the baby on last Friday at Petlaburj hospital and her mother took the infant to Niloufer Hospital on Sunday as the baby was not keeping well.
The kidnapper struck a conversation with the gullible woman and offered help while crossing the road. The woman took the baby from the his grandmother and asked her to get her a cup of tea to which the old woman obliged. As she moved towards a tea stall, the kidnapper fled the spot with the child.
The infant's grandmother realized that she was conned and cried for help but the kidnapper escaped safely by the time. She then called her husband saying she delivered a baby boy and both left for their village on their bike.
After reaching Bandondipally, about 100km from here, in Nagarkurnool district, they came to know about the police search operation as all TV channels aired the story prominently. Fearing that the police can find them any moment, the kidnapper killed the boy and they buried the body on the village outskirts the next morning, according to eyewitnesses. And they came back to their home in Katedan.
Central Zone DCP Joel Davis said they tracked the kidnapper's movement with the help of CCTV footage at various junctions and traced her to Bandondipally village. It's learnt that the kidnapper and her husband were taken into custody from their home in Katedan.
A police team along with doctors was sent to Bandondipally to conduct post-mortem on the infant's body after exhuming it. Further investigation is on.
