Key meeting on Telangana process, Seemandhra Cong leaders resent
In the wake of Union Home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde’s latest confirmation on finalizing the Telangana report by Group of Ministers (GoM) before the beginning of winter session of Parliament, the meeting of principal secretaries of concerned department on Friday evening gained importance.
Union Home secretary Anil Biswas is to hold the key meeting to discuss the approach and methodology to be adapted in the process of bifurcating Andhra Pradesh. According to sources in Delhi, the principal secretariats of 10 departments concerned to the procedure of bifurcating any state, will be attending the meeting.
Resenting the moves towards state bifurcation, Congress leaders from Seemandhra met Andhra Pradesh governor ESL Narasimhan and requested him to follow constitutional process while dividing AP.
Speaking to press persons after their meeting, the Seemandhra Congress leaders said that Congress High Command has been reiterating that the division decision was taken only after all the opposition parties in the State agreed for it. They were in a mood that the decision of dividing the State was aimed merely for getting political mileage.
Terming the process being adapted by the government was undemocratic, the Seemandhra Congress MPs and MLAs made it clear that no other alternative is accepted other than the status quo.
“We requested the Governor to convey the sentiments of Seemandhra people to the Prime minister," they added.
