Kerala Businessman Owns Costliest Registration Number

Thiruvananthapuram: KS Balagopal, chief of Devi Pharma in Thiruvananthapuram paid a huge amount of Rs18 lakh for a fancy registration number 'KL 01 CB 1' for his Land Cruiser worth Rs1.5 crore.

An auction was held at a RTO office in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday on behalf of the RTO B. Murali Krishnan. "This is the highest amount paid for a fancy number in Kerala. Before it was Raleef, a Qatar based businessman, who bought a fancy number for Rs.16 lakh for his Land Rover.

Four people including Balagopal had paid Rs1 lakh for the fancy number as a booking charge. Balagopal clinched the deal at Rs.18 lakh.

The RTO has put up over 25 fancy numbers for auction on Monday.
