KCR tries to convince Delhi on Telangana
Even as the TRS supremo, K.Chandrasekhara Rao spent his day trying to meet Congress leaders, a different broth was brewing in the state capital.
Giving a major jolt to the TRS and other groups supporting a separate Telangana, Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde today said that the vexatious issue needs to be considered in a more in-depth manner. A decision on a separate Telangana state will be taken only after taking all aspects into consideration, he added.
Shinde also clarified that an appropriate decision would be taken only after convening an all-party meet and and no decision has been taken on an all party meeting as yet. He said that he had assumed charge as Home Minister only very recently and that he needed more time to understand contentious problems.
The Home Minister also said that after the formation of Chhattisgarh, the Naxal problem became worse in the state and had to be tackled as a far more serious law and order and internal security problems, as compare to earlier times.
Reacting to Shinde's comments, TRS leader T. Harish Rao said that the formation of separate state had now become inevitable and that the Home Minister seemed to make these observations without a proper understanding of the Telangana issue.
Meanwhile the TRS supremo, KCR is busy meeting Congress leaders in Delhi and appears not to have taken Shinde's comments seriously. He met Vayalar Ravi today in Delhi and was reportedly closeted with him for about one hour.
According to sources KCR is supposed to have agreed to the proposal of Hyderabad as capital for all three regions. He is also reported to have began assurances on the safety and security of people who had settled in Telangana for several decades. With all these developments, it is still uncertain as to how the Congress is going to decide on the complex issue of Telangana.
