KCR meets PM, thanks him for his support to T Bill - Sakshi Post

Telangana Rastra Samiti chief K Chandrasekhar Rao along with his party men met PM Manmohan Singh in Delhi on Tuesday.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, KCR said that the Centre was still adamant in its support for the formation of Telangana. "We have asked the PM for amendments in the Telangana Bill. We have submitted the amended bill to PM Manmohan Singh. PM said Bill will be introduced in the upcoming parliament session," said KCR.

KCR submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister consisting of nine demands. According to it, Telangana would face considerable power shortage after its formation.

To bridge the gap, NTPC should establish a 4000 mega watt power plant in the region. Adequate natural gas should also be alloted for setting up of 1400 mega watt plant at Shankerpally to meet burgeoning needs of Hyderabad, it said.

TRS also sought setting up of a high court, IIM, and an AIIMS branch in Telangana. The memorandum said that the debates that have taken place regarding the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill, 2013 in both the Houses of the state legislature have deepened the divide further.

In such a conflicting scenario various aspects of the bill dealing with the Legislative Assembly, High Court, power sector and higher education need a surgical treatment. This is essential for healthy evolution of Telangana polity, the memorandum added.

"We have also urged PM to not have any restrictions for Hyderabad.I will comment on BJP after BAC meet," KCR added. He also thanked the PM for taking forward the T Bill.
