Hyderabad: The Kalvakuntla family was plunged into grief at the news of the demise of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's elder sister, Vimala Bai Kalvakuntla at a hospital here in the city, today. She had been ailing for some time and was 82.

KCR who is believed to be very attached to his siblings was said to have been shocked on hearing the news. Vimala Bai's family lives in Mangapuram colony in Alwal
in Secunderabad. KCR, Minister T Harish Rao along with several other TDP leaders attended the funeral at Alwal, according to a source.

The Telangana Chief Minister has eight older sisters, a younger sister and
an older brother. Vimala Bai is the second daughter in the family. The Telangana Chief Minister, it is widely known, begins his Raksha Bandhan day each year by getting rakhis tied on his wrist by his sisters first. He is also known to make time for family functions despite his pressing schedule.
