Kamal’s Dig At Hindu Terror Groups Invites Defamation Case
Chennai: A defamation case was filed against actor Kamal Hassan on Friday for hurting religious sentiments. It's worth mentioning here that he had made a controversial statement that "right wing groups can't deny existence of Hindu terrorism. The actor expressed his views in a Tamil magazine ‘Ananda Vikatan’. The petition was filed by a lawyer Kamlesh Chandra Tripathi which will be heard on Saturday. The petitioner in his complaint said that, the actor had hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus by making such derogatory remarks saying ' Hindu terror'.
Kamal opened up his view in the weekly column as a response to Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s question, who asked the former to opine views on “Hindutva forces” and its attempt to “dilute Tamil culture”.
A case under 500, 511, 298, 295(A), and 505(C) were filed under the IPC section. Meanwhile, the actor’s remark drew ire from BJP leader Subramanian Swamy who termed him as a “morally corrupt person”. The actor was also compared with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) founder Hafiz Saeed by BJP national spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao.
