Judicial probe sought into ANU suicide
Hyderabad: Demanding a judicial inquiry into the circumstances leading to the suicide of an architecture student at the Acharya Nagarjua University (ANU), YSR Congress has said that the abettors of the heinous act should be arrested immediately.
“The way TDP is trying to hush up the incident and shield the culprits shows up its ulterior motives and the lathi-charge on the students who came to the Chief Minister’s office is highly condemnable,’ Party MLA RK Roja told on Friday.
TDP leaders trying to shield the Principal is highly objectionable and he did not respond to the complaints lodged against the ragging on Rishiteswari and declaring holidays after the suicide bid shows the cover up bid.
As per Supreme Court guidelines, the Principal has to act immediately after any complaint of ragging but he failed so. The Principal along with the Vice Chancellor should be immediately arrested and an inquiry should be ordered immediately which would boost the morale of the youngsters, she said.
A fact-finding committee of the Party, comprising women’s and student’s wing will also visit the ANU on Aug 6 to probe into the details of the incident, she said.
