Jnanpeeth award for Telugu litterateur Ravuri Bharadwaja
Noted Telugu litterateur Ravuri Bharadwaja was conferred with prestigious Jnanpeeth award in recognition of his works in Telugu literary field.
He was chosen for the award for his novel “Pakudu Rallu”, most popular among all his works, which highlighted the persons and their attitudes in the film industry.
Ravuri Bharadwaja was the third Telugu literary person, who got Jnanpeeth award. Noted Telugu litterateurs Viswanadha Satyanarayana and C Narayana Reddy had been honoured with the award earlier.
Ravuri Bharadwaja, born in 1927, had written 24 volumes of short stories, nine novels, four play-lets, and five radio plays. He has also contributed profusely to children's literature. “Paakudu Raallu”, a graphic account of life behind the screen in film industry, is considered his magnum opus. “Jeevana Samaram” is another of his popular works. He was chosen for Lok Nayak Foundation’s Literary Award in 2009.
