J&K to go under Governor rule till Mehbooba swearing in

Jammu and Kashmir is set to go under Governor rule till the swearing in ceremony of PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, daughter of former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed who passed away on Thursday.

Following the death of the Chief Minister the state, the Cabinet had legally ceased to exist and the PDP’s coalition with BJP has become dysfunctional.

As Mohammad Sayeed’s daughter Mehbooba is not prepared for the swearing in ceremony in the mourning period, the state will go under the Governor’s rule till Sunday.

The swearing-in ceremony may take place on Monday.

PDP-BJP combine has not yet informed the State Governor NN Vohra who would take charge as next CM.
