Jewellers to continue their strike, GJFI announces
Hyderabad: The Gems and Jewellers Federation of India (GJFI) on Wednesday issued a call to extend the Jewellers strike till March 17. The strike that began on March 2 was originally planned for three days. This had been earlier extended to March 7 as there was no response from the government to address their issues. This has now been extended once again to March 17.
The jewellers have been protesting against the 1 percent excise tax that has been proposed in the 2016 Financial budget. The Gems and Jewellers traders in the old city had observed the bandh on Wednesday as well.
